We had so many fun and interesting encounters with people during our time in Istanbul.

It seemed like there was always time for a visit...

...and even a cup of tea. They always asked us where we were from and seemed quite pleased that we were from Canada - at least it seemed that way!

This man told us that the Turkish women don't like him because he doesn't have any hair! The poor man! But he still had a twinkle in his eye and a great sense of humour.

I think this was one of our most interesting people experiences of our trip. As we were getting on the subway on Sunday night we couldn't help but notice the huge hockey bag this guy was carrying, not to mention the hockey stick. Howard asked him if he was a hockey player and he was very happy and pleased to tell us that he was. He plays for the Turkish national junior team and is quite sure he will make the National team very soon if he has time to practice in the midst of his university studies. That was quite a concept to grasp! He asked us where we were from and when we said 'Canada' he and his buddy laughed out loud! I'm sure this young man, Can (John) would LOVE to play hockey in Canada. He told us that he's heard that all the babies in Canada are born wearing skates! He was such a bright and happy young man. Sorry the picture is so poor...
