the guest book

A friend of Katy's got married yesterday.
She asked Katy to make her a guestbook.
Somehow, in the midst of her crazy, busy life
she managed to create this work of art.
It's something to be treasured....

the slow melt

Apparently we are experiencing the perfect flood prevention weather.
The days are bright and sunny but the nights continue to be cold.
And the snow just keeps hanging around.
Although if one looks carefully, you can almost see that it is
shrinking.
There are those who don't mind the snow.
Not sure what these guys think about it.
And according to my mom
the syrup should be perfect this year.
Warmish days - cold nights.
The only thing is.....
This town gets its maple syrup from Quebec.
The tapping of the trees is just a show.
Too bad.

no rest for the weary

The geese are back
however
I don't know where they are resting their weary bodies.
There is no open water
except for puddles in the streets or
along the sides of roads.
Can geese land on snow?
Don't they need water for those picture-perfect landings?
What do they drink?
Can geese eat snow?
I am concerned.

dear snow.......

It's one of those days.
We're in the middle of yet another blizzard
and snowfall warning so
no school today.
That part is okay.
Thinking about this day a year ago is a bit depressing, though.
It was +24C.
I read a status on Howard's facebook a few weeks ago:
Dear Snow
The novelty has worn off.
Sincerely,
Canada
Pretty much sums it up.

brighter days

We've made it to daylight savings time!
Spring must be just around the corner - although looking
outside one would wonder.
We still have heaps of snow and even though the
sun shines brightly day after day
the temps are cold and the wind still belongs to
old man winter.
The ladybugs continue to be happy inside.
This one found my rubber glove the other day.
I think this spring we'll have to try to discover where these little beasts are
getting into the house.
They aren't a bother but I think it's just time.

two girls and two birthdays

Last Sunday we celebrated Katy's 21st birthday.
This Sunday it was Beth's turn.
Our first baby will be 23 tomorrow.
Where do the years go?
